Cramped Style Weekly
Issue No. 227: May 15, 2026
Hello all! I am coming to you live from a decidedly mid week which, in this decade, feels like a delightful break. The weather is lovely and the public health experts are saying hantavirus is not going to be the next covid, so you know, I’m running with the good vibes til whatever the next 2020s crisis is.
What I’m reading
I finished Margo’s Got Money Troubles by Rufi Thorpe and can confidently say it’ll be one of my favorite books I’ve read this year. Now I am onto American Fantasy by Emma Straub about themed cruise with an aging boy band and all their middle aged fans. I am buckled up for some millennial nostalgia!
What I’m listening to
Obviously brace yourself, but I was astounded to realize that I got through all of the entire NYT “The Interview” episode with Tucker Carlson, “What Does Tucker Carlson Really Believe?”, without fighting the urge to delete the episode halfway through. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still a repellent, smug dweeb, but Lulu Garcia-Navarro’s interviewing was masterful.
What I’m watching
The final episode ever of “Outlander”. Insert crying emoji.
What I’m eating
I could eat this Gullah Geechee style crab rice every day.
This week’s obsession
I went on a rant to Scott this week about enshittification and how will it ever end because personally, I think the real epidemic right now is people insisting AI is great when actually, in my experience, it’s making everything shittier. I don’t know a single person who is like actually optimistic about AI, and yet for some reason we all have the play along? Hard pass.
This week’s local favorite
We’re having dinner with friends this weekend at neighborhood favorite Sally O’s!
Have a great weekend!
