Cramped Style Weekly
Issue No. 225: April 17, 2026
Hello, hello, I’m back after another week of missing an issue because Harry rules my life now. Let’s catch up!
What I’m reading
The idea that we might live in a multiverse with infinite numbers of simultaneous timelines with different versions of ourselves is very cool, if somewhat nauseating for my never-took-physics brain to comprehend. In some ways, it’s comforting to know there’s another Staci out there who isn’t living in the dumbest timeline like we are right now. But anyway, Dark Matter by Blake Crouch is about this. A scientist has created an invention that allows people to travel to different worlds in the multiverse and see how their lives could have turned out differently had they made different choices. It’s a fast-paced thriller, and I am enjoying it (even if I find Crouch’s writing style kind of annoying).
What I’m listening to
I missed getting to chat to you about the Artemis II lunar mission, which was very cool. Less cool was the space toilet situation. I have the sense of humor of an 8-year-old boy though, so I really enjoyed this episode of “Today Explained,” “When Nature Calls in Space.” Guys. In the 70s, astronauts were taping bags to their butts to poop. Give it a listen!
What I’m watching
Scott and I watched the last season of “True Detective,” “True Detective: Night Country” set in northern Alaska with Jodie Foster and Kali Reis. I know a lot of people didn’t like this one since there was a lot of supernatural shit in it and it leaned on some horror gimmicks. I typically don’t like horror, but I personally really liked this season and found myself totally hooked on the mystery. Now we’re onto the new season of “Hacks”!
What I’m eating
It’s prematurely hot this week, so this quick, easy-to-make chilled spicy tuna and avocado tostadas recipe hit the spot.
This week’s obsession
Pete Hegseth quoting the “Bible” from “Pulp Fiction” and probably having no idea it’s not a real Bible verse.
How I’m staying healthy
Walking 8,000 miles with Harry. Scott got her this insane smart dog collar, and I am forever getting notifications about her hitting 533% of her daily step goal.
This week’s local favorite
A couple weekends ago, we made our annual spring trip to Green Fields Nursery to pick up some plant babies for my janky little urban rooftop garden. It’s always a fun visit.
Have a great weekend!
