Cramped Style Weekly
Issue No. 221: February 27, 2026
For the first time in my life, I feel like I successfully mAnIfEsTeD something! And that something was insignificant snow. Last week, with snow in the forecast, I repeatedly said to anyone who would listen to my bitching, “I refuse to accept that it will snow. I cannot accept it in my soul.” And somehow the blizzard that whipped up the East Coast and slammed all the major cities around us was a mere few inches here that melted by the end of the day! I felt hashtag blessed.
Now. How to manifest a new government?
What I’m reading
I started Paper Cut by Rachel Taff, a debut novel I was gifted by my friend Katharine (thank you!). It is blurbed as “cult noir.” I am not too far into it yet but my questions keep me turning the pages.
What I’m listening to
This episode of “The Interview” with Gisele Pelicot, whose husband drugged her and coordinated her rape by strangers over several years is a very hard listen, but she is endlessly remarkable and is on a mission to shift the shame from rape survivors to rapists. So if you can handle listening, let’s all do our part in helping her achieve that mission.
What I’m watching
Scott and I are visiting Northern California this summer, so we watched “Bottle Shock,” with Alan Rickman and Chris Pine based on a true story of how people began to take California wine seriously in the 70s. Scott and I have revisited a lot of movies that came out when we were younger and woof. But this one wasn’t bad for a 90s movie, probably because it came out in 2008 #iykyk.
What I’m eating
These ginger salmon lettuce wraps are healthy and super delicious. Give me fish sauce on everything.
This week’s obsession
Using my newfound powers to manifest Trump’s downfall.
How I’m staying healthy
Getting back outside! I see a number that starts with 7 in the 10-day forecast!
This week’s local favorite
Perennial favorite Ekiben is collaborating with Ho Foods this weekend, and I’m looking forward to trying the Taiwanese breakfast!
